Discipleship a New Testament Concept?
In VCLi’s Discipleship God’s Clarion Call, we uncover a gem in the Older Testament. It is found in Isaiah chapter 50 verses 4-5:
The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of disciples,
That I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
The Lord GOD has opened My ear;
And I was not disobedient
Nor did I turn back.
God is showing the disciple that hearing His voice is imperative. In hearing, the disciple is able to pass on to his disciple the Word that will carry him beyond his weariness.
He also opens the disciple’s ear so he can follow the Lord obediently.
God talks to His disciples through out scripture. God wants to use you and me and lets us know what to do as we listen to Him in His Word.
